Designing a new kitchen

September 25th, 2006
Kitchens have evolved a great deal since the fifties, when the standard “work triangle'' consisted of three focal points - the sink, the refrigerator and the ''stove'' or oven/range combination - each positioned about three or four steps apart. Today most kitchens have many extras, such as dishwashers, dual-ovens, microwaves, toasters, cook-top ranges, double sinks and freezers - not to mention computers, televisions, breakfast bars and stools. Although the three basic work points of the traditional kitchen remain central to any well- planned modern-day kitchen, the introduction of so many other appliances has affected the present-day layout and requires

Condo Corner

September 20th, 2006

The Whys and Wherefores of Wi-Fi

September 12th, 2006
Not long ago, Wi-Fi technology was only available at certain businesses and in a few homes. But now it is virtually everywhere – in airports, hotels, bars, restaurants, many residential communities and even government institutions. Such rapid advancement indicates that Wi-Fi will soon become commonplace in most populated areas across the country, making it a subject of interest to many homeowners.

what exactly is wi-fi?

Wi-Fi means “wireless-fidelity” and is a term registered by a non-profit group known as Wi-Fi Alliance. The organization promotes international standards for wireless technology and certifies products that comply

It has become standard for many retailers to offer a supplementary ''protection plan" on appliances and electronics for a small fee added to the sale price. The plan may seem like a good idea to the consumer interested insuring an expensive purchase for a small incremental amount. But before buying, you should be sure that the plan offers real added value, because some of these plans overlap with other protection programs you already have.
