Start a Neighbourhood Club…

Gathering a regular group to play cards, discuss books or watch birds, has become common practice. But what about starting your own “Neighbourhood Club”? It’s a common practice among first-time buyers in new home developments, but its merit in established neighbourhoods is now being recognized. “Neighbourhood Blucs” meet regularly to trade information or to pitch in on projects that focus on home and/or community improvement.

Here are just a few ideas:
- Trade garden seeds and transplant garden overgrowth
- Discuss buying, storing and sharing bulk materials or equipment for exterior maintenance (e.g. extension ladder, garden tiller, etc.).
- Negotiate hiring professionals on a group basis (landscaping, tree trimming, insect treatments, pest removal, etc.).
- Lobby local authorities to support or contribute to community improvement projects.

Be my neighbour! Would you like information about living in Vancouver’s fabulous West End? Give me a call any time.
