your condo view can change

If you happen to enjoy the view you have from your condo windows or balcony, you should take the time to investigate plans for your neighborhood to determine whether your view could change in the future. Rather than being surprised by construction you should determine the development plans for your neighboring properties, and decide whether you want to get involved in city planning meetings.

To be proactive, check with the local municipal office to find out who owns your neighboring property, how it is zoned, and whether any construction permits have been applied for or approved. It may take years for development plans to go into effect, but that time is in your favor. It might give you the opportunity to impact the plans or the advantage to sell before ground is broken. Remember if you chose to remain in your condo during construction, you may need to wait for construction to finish before market value of your property is restored.
