Stainless Steel Appliances
History of Stainless Steel comes from World War I when a new alloy was needed to prevent erosion and protect cannon bores. Harry Brearly discovered if you add chronium to low carbon steel, the steel becomes resistant to staining.
Benefits of stainless steel are corrosion resistant, Fire and heat resistant, excellent for strict hygiene environments, aesthetically pleasing and longevity.
Types:There are 60 grades of stainless steel. They range in colour from light to dark gray and when polished have a mirror like quality.
Cleaning:
Find out if the finished is stainless steel or brushed chrome.
Go with the grain during cleaning.
Do not use Chlorine bleach or products with chlorine bleach in it.
Use mild detergent and water or a solution of white vinegar and water with a soft cloth for daily cleaning
You can also use a nonabrasive cleaner such as baking soda paste or manufacturer’s suggested cleaner.
Important: When cleaning floor or counter tile grout do not get any of
the grout cleaner on your stainless steel appliances as it will cause
an acid stain which is extremely hard if not impossible to remove.
