Packing Tips for moving

Packing is one of the most important parts of moving. It's also one of the most annoying. So here are a few tips to make it a little less of a headache!

• Start as soon as possible!  Moving can be stress free if you are prepared

• Pack your goods in sealed sturdy boxes.  If your belongings are packed properly, there can be no excuse for damage

• Tape the bottoms of the boxes squarely with two overlapping strips of tape exceeding the sides by at least3 inches

• Pack fragile and heavy items (dishes, stemware, collectibles, books, canned goods, etc.) in 2 ft. cube boxes

• Pack all other goods into 4 ft. cube boxes

• Fill all boxes, but do not exceed the top and seal it like the bottom

• Label the sided of the boxes with the contents and the destination in your new home

• Box lampshades

• Box DVD players, VCRs, cable box, etc

• Be sure to box everything that is not furniture.  This will ensure that your move will go efficiently and save you money

• Bundle larger items that don't fit in boxes (mop, broom, curtain rod, etc.)

• Empty drawers into boxes but leave them in the desk or dresser

• Do not use tape on your furniture
