Common Sense tips
Have you ever looked at the warning label on plastic packaging and seen a message like, “do not let children play with plastic bags”? Seems like it would be a logical choice, and yet there is obviously a reason they choose to post that warning!
With that in mind, here is some more common sense it can’t hurt to read about:
Practice Fireside Safety
If
you’re going to a cottage or campsite, or spending time around a
backyard fireplace, it’s important to remember the basic rules of
fireside safety:
-Keep fire away from buildings, log piles, trees, bushes, dry grasses, newspapers, etc.
-Make sure your fire is safely contained with a proper non-flammable barrier around the flames.
-Keep people at a safe distance.
-Start your fire small, and build it gradually. Add wood pieces only as needed.
-Never leave a fire unattended, or in the care of children.
-Never use liquid fuels on an open fire.
-Ensure your fire is “dead out,” by adding water and stirring it until all embers are dowsed.
And my own addition… don’t for get the marshmallows!
